OK, got the joystick thing figured out.

You have to go under controls...foot... and delete the various joystick inputs. Unfortunately, there is no delete function so while you have a joystick plugged in, assign every axis function to a single button and confirm you want to replace that function each time until you are down to a single input...Basically you can't delete input functions, but when you reassign it the previous entry goes blank until you have only one input remaining. Just assign fire to one of the buttons or something and the axis won't fuck you up anymore.

There is a good tweak guide here....

I set all the port forwarding and that fixed my network issues. I'm getting about 50-60fps now at 1920x1200 at mostly medium settings on my overclocked GTX275 and 3.6GHz dual core E6750. The game still looks fantastic but I'm going to try to pick up a cheap quad core anyway. They say this game is heavily CPU intensive.

Turns out you can add steam users and play online with them even if you have the retail copy...
that in my opinion is freaken awesome
L4D didn't have that so i kinda thought it would be the same in this too.
turns out there using EA servers instead of steam servers.
Max, Carp, an i were owning last night..

FFS!!!! Why in the flying fuck do we have to log in to EA to play this on dedicated servers? Can't play because EA's servers have been down. This is just as stupid as IWnet. Fucking morons.

I should have known this would be another EA/DICE POS.

I have not been able to play multiplayer since Thursday. Now I cannot even log in at all because it logs me out and says I'm already logged in. What BS.

ohh... we knew it would not come out finished, its has every single bug that BF2 and 2142 had and a few more. I would guess a patch/hotfix within 2 weeks.

First of all, I don't recall being barely able to play BF2 online for the first week.
Secondly, I cannot say for 2142. Never even considered buying it.
Thirdly, if it takes 2 weeks for them to fix this crap so it can be played on line, EA/DICE deserve to die a slow, painful death.

LMAO...the last thing this game needs is another bunch of shitty servers to have to connect to before you can play

Sounds crazy but have you contacted EA support JK? If you hit the e-mail us button you'll get the option to use EA Live chat. They are actually pretty good.

I'm all good now. It seems like they have it fairly stable now. Not sure about the game yet, but at least there are more than a few eastern Euro servers available now.
